Artist Bio
Born and raised in Plainfield NJ, in 1981, and currently lives in Newark, New Jersey, Stephen Levine, aka ShyU One, is primarily a reverse glass and mixed media artist creating under the moniker of Impetus of Thought. Drawing on decades of studies, both academic and personal, ShyU has been most inspired by the movement of ideas throughout history, documented in the arts, philosophies, religions and various other forms of expressions used throughout time. After majoring in fine arts in college, Stephen became an Assistant Preschool Teacher working with children with autism. In 2008, while operating as Music Coordinator and Executive Assistant for Shadesradio.com, he was invited to live, tour and be an apprentice to iconic conscious artist KRSONE. During this period, he studied Hip Hop Kulture, metaphysical philosophy and artistic concept building. Using visual metaphors and symbolic gestures, ShyU aims to create beauty with the purpose of drawing the observer into a narrative that can spark new patterns of thought.
